For 2023, he prophesied a global economic disaster: “So high will the bushel of wheat rise / That man will be eating his fellow man,” he wrote in one of his quatrains. While the world grappled with the economic repercussions of the post-COVID-19 era and a surging cost of living crisis, the prophecy proved to be somewhat exaggerated.

In one of his quatrains, Nostradamus makes reference to an individual he dubs the ‘King of the Isles,’ entangled in a contentious divorce and ultimately “driven out by force.” Furthermore, he predicts that this monarch will be succeeded by someone “who will have no mark of a king.”
Analyst and author Mario Reading, compiler of the book “The Nostradamus Prophecies,” suggests that the ‘King of the Isles’ might signify King Charles III, who could be compelled to abdicate due to “persistent attacks on both himself and his second wife.”
In the same volume, Nostradamus, as interpreted by Reading, anticipates the demise of Queen Elizabeth II in the year 2022.
Emergence of a New Young Pope
With the current Pope, Pope Francis, in his mid-80s and grappling with recent health challenges, Nostradamus predicts in one of his foresights that, owing to old age, the Pope will be succeeded by a younger pontiff.
Although the prospect of a younger and dynamic Pope seems positive, Nostradamus swiftly adds that the new leader will ‘weaken his see’ and serve as Pope for an extended period. The precise interpretation of ‘weaken’ is, naturally, subject to debate. Does it imply a diminishing influence of the church, or does it hint at an impending scandal?
