The holidays are the perfect vibe to chill and binge some fire movies on streaming apps, especially Christmas classics. Back in October, I went all out watching a horror movie every day, so for Christmas, I was like, Why not level up and make my own Christmas movie advent calendar.
Yo, it’s that time of the year again! Christmas vibes are all over, and what’s better than chilling on the couch, sipping hot cocoa, and diving into the best holiday movies? Whether you’re team Netflix or squad Prime Video, I’ve got you covered with some absolute bangers. Let’s get cozy and find your next fave flick for the holidays.
Hot Frosty (2024)
I kicked off December with a fresh Netflix drop for two reasons: I needed a Christmas movie I hadn’t seen yet, and it had to be a Netflix original—’cause let’s be real, Netflix Christmas flicks are the new Hallmark.
The plot of Hot Frosty is straight-up wild. A widow (played by Lacey Chabert) somehow brings a snowman to life, and surprise—it’s a good-looking dude (Dustin Milligan). The catch? She’s gotta fall for him before he melts. It’s totally cliché, like a fairy tale with a modern vibe. Honestly, it’s nowhere near Netflix’s top-tier stuff, but the questionable acting and random twists kinda made it fun to watch.
Our Little Secret (2024)
After vibing with Hot Frosty, I was curious to see what other Christmas gems Netflix had up its sleeve. Our Little Secretcaught my eye—mostly because of the poster (and duh, Lindsay Lohan). I figured it might give off similar vibes to Hot Frosty, but turns out, it’s a whole different vibe—in the best way.
Even though Hot Frosty gets more hype, Our Little Secret has a storyline that actually keeps you hooked, even if the acting’s a little sus. Lindsay Lohan and Ian Harding play exes who get thrown back together for Christmas after 10 years apart—because plot twist: their new baes are siblings. Oh, and Kristen Chenoweth as Lohan’s savage mother-in-law? Iconic.
Home Alone (1990)
It ain’t Christmas without Home Alone, right? Even 30+ years later, it still vibes hard this time of year. Lowkey, it’s not even my fave Home Alone movie (I ride for the New York sequel all day), but I still binge it every December. Why? ‘Cause I grew up on slapstick comedy, and watching Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern as the clumsy burglars cracks me up every single time. Classic.
Love Hard (Netflix)
This one’s a whole vibe! It’s like modern dating meets Christmas chaos. A girl flies across the country to surprise her online crush, but plot twist—she’s been catfished. It’s funny, sweet, and totally relatable if you’ve ever had a Tinder fail.
The Holiday (Prime Video)
Okay, this one’s a classic. Two strangers swap homes for the holidays and end up finding love in unexpected places. It’s giving all the cozy feels. Plus, the cast—Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jack Black, and Jude Law—is straight fire.
Klaus (Netflix)
Animated movie? Say less. Klaus is such a heartwarming gem. The art style is chef’s kiss, and the story about how one act of kindness can snowball (pun intended) into something magical is pure Christmas spirit.
A Bad Moms Christmas (Prime Video)
This one’s for the moms who’ve had enough of holiday stress. It’s wild, hilarious, and kinda chaotic—basically, your family Christmas but turned up a notch. Watch it with your squad for a laugh fest.
The Princess Switch (Netflix)
Vanessa Hudgens playing not one, not two, but THREE characters? Iconic. This movie is like a sugary Christmas cookie—predictable but oh-so-satisfying. If you’re into royal romances and cute holiday shenanigans, it’s a must-watch.
Elf (Prime Video)
Buddy the Elf is literally GOAT when it comes to Christmas comedy. Will Ferrell’s energy is unmatched, and the quotable lines? Endless. This movie is like a warm hug with a sprinkle of ridiculousness.
Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (Netflix)
This movie is a total masterpiece. It’s a musical, it’s magical, and it’s got some serious holiday vibes. The visuals are stunning, and the story will legit make you believe in Christmas miracles.
Last Christmas (Prime Video)
This one hits you in the feels. It’s about a girl who’s kinda lost in life until she meets a mysterious guy during the holidays. The soundtrack (yes, it’s George Michael) and the twist? Chef’s kiss.
